The distillery

A copper still where the dispensary used to be

Come in for a bottle, walk the physic garden, or spend a Saturday afternoon tasting with us.

14 Physick Row, Beverley HU17 · Thursday to Sunday, 11:00–18:00

Tall brass-bright pot stills leaning in a row under warm still-house light

Number fourteen, since 1884

The shop kept its drawers. We kept the shop.

William Harland opened a dispensing chemist here in 1884 and his family ran it until 1979. After that it mended shoes, sold wool, and stood empty for six years with the mahogany drawers still on the walls.

Imogen spent a decade dispensing medicines in Hull; Ravi was head gardener for the town’s parks. We bought the building in 2018, opened the doors in 2019, and still find the odd brown medicine bottle when we dig a new bed.

Planning a visit

Getting here, and getting in

Is there parking nearby?

The Cross Garth car park is a four-minute walk; Physick Row itself is cobbled and pedestrian. Beverley station is a short walk away, about 12 minutes.

Is the distillery step-free?

The shop floor, the still room and the garden paths are step-free. The cellar tasting room is down eight steps, and on request we hold any tasting upstairs instead.

Can under-18s come along?

Children are welcome in the shop and the garden. Tastings and the distil-your-own evening are for over-18s only, and we ask for ID at the door.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, in the shop and the garden. The still room stays dog-free because of the heat and the copper.

What if I need to cancel?

Move or cancel up to 72 hours before for a full refund. After that we can move you to another date once, free of charge.
